Raymond Anchan, MD, PhD

Dr. Anchan is the Primary Investigator and Director of the Stem Cell Biology and Regenerative Medicine Research Laboratory in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Division of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. He along with other collaborators at Harvard Medical School has been studying embryonic stem cell mediated regenerative processes as well as the development of human diseases, including endometriosis. By understanding the pathophysiology underlying the development of endometriosis using an embryonic stem cell model, Dr. Anchan hopes to help develop improved approaches to the management and treatment of this disease. Dr. Anchan also is actively involved in the clinical care and surgical management of endometriosis with the goal of improving the quality of life and fertility outcomes of his patients.

Jon Einarrson, MD
Specialties: Surgical Management of Deeply Infiltrating Endometriosis
Dr. Einarsson is the Director of the Division of Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery (MIGS) at Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH) and an Associate Professor in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Harvard Medical School. The MIGS Division is a referral practice that accepts challenging surgical cases that are otherwise not considered candidates for minimally invasive surgery due to complex pathology such as severe endometriosis. Dr. Einarrson is also a surgical specialist who addresses deeply infiltrating endometriosis. He has lectured and operated nationally and internationally and has won several prestigious awards, including the Golden Laparoscope Award in 2011 for the video entitled “Laparoscopic excision of deeply infiltrative endometriosis”.

Antonio Gargiulo, MD

Mark Hornstein, MD

Dr. Hornstein is the Co-Director of the Boston Center for Endometriosis, Director of the Division of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and Professor of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Biology at Harvard Medical School. He is dedicated to caring for adult women diagnosed with endometriosis and infertility. Dr. Hornstein has led numerous clinical trials that have focused on the efficacy of specific medications to treat endometriosis and other studies that have examined the link between endometriosis with other conditions such as dysplastic nevi. Over the course of his career, Dr. Hornstein has treated thousands of adult women with endometriosis both medically and surgically with the goal of improving pain and fertility outcomes.

Marc R. Laufer, MD

Dr. Laufer, Director of the Boston Center for Endometriosis, Co-Director of the Center for Young Women’s Health and Chief of Gynecology at Boston Children’s Hospital and Professor at Brigham and Women’s Hospital is devoted to caring for young women with endometriosis and is determined to help find a cure. As a gynecologist, Dr. Laufer has treated both young and older women with endometriosis and has recognized that symptoms including; painful periods, pelvic pain, painful urination, etc, often begin during the teenage years. These symptoms are frequently misunderstood and treatment is commonly delayed when early treatment is possible. Dr. Laufer has spent most of his career not only caring for adolescent girls and adult women with endometriosis; helping to relieve their pain and preserving their fertility, but also conducting clinical research studies to help find a cure.

Elena Yanushpolsky, MD

Dr. Yanushpolsky is the Director of Reproductive Surgery at Brigham and Women’s Hospital as well as the Director of Brigham and Women’s Center for Infertility and Reproductive Surgery affiliate at the South Shore Hospital site. She is an Assistant Professor of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Biology at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Yanushpolsky’s interests and expertise are in the areas of infertility and surgical treatments of conditions contributing to infertility, such as endometriosis. Over the course of a 20-year career in Reproductive Medicine, Dr. Yanushpolsky has helped numerous patients with endometriosis achieve their fertility goals through medical and surgical treatments, and has also published research papers on the topic of endometriosis and in-vitro fertilization (IVF).
