The Progression Study

The Progression Study will include 100 Women’s Health Study: from Adolescence to Adulthood participants who are scheduled for endometriosis surgery soon and want to help us learn more about endometriosis. Participation is voluntary, and parental consent is required for participants under 18 years old.

Progression Study participants provide:

  • PRE-OP (before surgery): 1 saliva sample and 1 blood sample
  • POST-OP (6 weeks after surgery): 1 saliva sample and 1 blood sample
  • 1 YEAR (1 year after your surgery): 1 saliva sample and 1 blood sample

Pre-op samples are usually collected when you enroll, or on the day of surgery.

Post-op samples may be collected when you come to clinic for your post-operative visit with Dr. Laufer. Or, you can schedule another time to come into Boston or Children’s Lexington to complete these samples.

If you are a Progression Study participant and want to reschedule your post-operative appointment with Dr. Laufer to be within the 6 week-6 month post-surgery window (to avoid the additional research study visit), please call Maria Acevedo at 617-355-5785.

If you are a Progression Study participant and need to schedule your research study visit to provide the post-surgery samples, please contact the study team:
