About the Study

The Women’s Health Study: From Adolescence to Adulthood started in 2012 to explore health topics that affect women over the lifespan. We are creating the Alice S Marriott Biorepository (storage of biological samples, for example urine, blood, and tissue, in freezers), and a database (contains security protected health information about our study participants). These serve as a resource for scientists approved through our human subjects protections who are researching women’s health topics.

Study participants are asked to provide the following:

  • Answers to health questionnaires
  • Urine and saliva samples
  • Blood sample (OPTIONAL)
  • Some patients who are having surgery are eligible to provide more samples

This is a longitudinal study; we ask for participation once per year. This allows researchers to learn how health changes over time. Participants receive gift cards each year they participate. Participation is voluntary, and parental consent is required for participants under 18 years old.
